Luv (Un) Arranged Summary

Kriti Pandya

The eldest daughter of the Pandya family.

I have three nonnegotiable conditions for marriage:

I will continue working after marriage, even after having children.

I won’t sleep with my husband for the first six months.

I will have full control over the money I earn..

After being rejected and ridiculed by countless men for my “unreasonable” demands, I meet him.

Aakar Mishra, the eldest son of the Mishra family.

The first man who not only agrees to my conditions but also believes they’re perfectly reasonable.

The man who bends the unwritten rules of arranged marriage to truly get to know me.

The man who takes me on dates and long drives.

The man who lives in a joint family of fourteen.

The man who expects me to move in with his large family and make it my own after marriage.

Yikes.

Coming from a small nuclear family, I’m worried I won’t be a good daughter-in-law. But more than that, I’m downright terrified of losing myself in the process.

Luv (Un) Arranged Review

Character (6/10)

The characters in this book were all memorable and I loved almost all of them except Aakar of which I will explain soon as to the reason.

My favorite character was Aakar’s little brother, Abhi. I felt like he was such a kind and fun soul that just charmed me the more I read about him in this book.

I enjoyed how Kriti knows what she wants and also how the book shows how passionate she is being a schoolteacher that wants her female students to thrive and achieve all the success that they deserve especially in a community that does not put a high value on female education.

Aakar was great at first too, he was the greenest of green flags up until everything crashed and burned towards the latter half of the book that I honestly couldn’t see him the same way anymore and in my mind he didn’t do enough grovelling.

Atmosphere (7/10)

I grew up on Bollywood. I didn’t even know there was a Hollywood and honestly believed that they were copying the obviously superior Bollywood movies.

So, I absolutely loved how the author gave a song for every chapter. When listening to the recommended songs along with its chapter, I was completely immersed in the vibes.

I WAS IN THE ZONE!

Writing (7/10)

The author’s writing for me was solid. It was okay, I didn’t hate it but neither did it rock my world. Their writing was easy to understand and follow.

The dialogue between all the characters felt real and flowed quite well in my opinion especially when it came to the dramatic scenes.

I cried reading it because I really felt the emotions that Kriti felt at the time, it probably helped that I understood how she felt loving someone who you thought was one way turns out he was nothing like you thought he was.

Plot (6/10)

The plot is where the author lost me not because it wasn’t good but what the hell happened towards the end?!

What? Why? How?

I anticipated there to be drama because duh it’s a Bollywood book, there’s always going to be drama BUT I DID NOT ANTICIPATE IT WOULD BE FROM AAKAR!

The shock I felt reading the downfall of his character hurt me as much as it hurt Kriti.

You have to understand, Aakar was the greenest of flags. He treated Kriti well, treated her family well only for him to be the douchebag just cemented my biases that all men are trash.

I expected his family to not accept her and I was so happy that they did but the fact that Aakar in his fit of rage legit threw Kriti out from his house all because she kept secrets from him.

Secrets she had no right to share, mind you!

He threw her out like a bag of trash!

And that wasn’t even the first issue, the first issue was him treating Kriti like a maid and my blood was already boiling then because you promised her so much Aakar only to break it all when y’all got married.

Him throwing her out of the house was the last straw for me because no amount of grovelling could bring me back because WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK?!

If I were Kriti I would definitely have trust issues because how would I know he won’t do it again? The ease at which he threw her out the first time was so scary because you have this man proclaiming his absolute love to you only for him to throw you away the moment you displease him.

That ain’t love my man. I don’t know what that was but that was definitely not love.

I was very pleased he was berated by his family members when they found out what he did because he sure as hell deserved it and more.

The fact that Kriti went back to him is beyond me but hey to each their own.

Honestly, I didn’t like the ending because there wasn’t enough grovelling and also it made me slightly sad because it seemed like Kriti’s passion to be a schoolteacher was swept aside.

Intrigue (7/10)

When I first read this book I just couldn’t put it down due to how fluffy and sweet everything was and towards the end I still couldn’t put it down because I couldn’t believe Aakar had such audacity.

Logic (6/10)

The story made sense to me even if it was so dramatic because I knew how Bollywood movies are and the dramatics in this book holds no flame against them.

Enjoyment (7/10)

If I put aside Aakar’s actions in the latter half of the book, I really enjoyed reading Luv (Un) Arranged. There were so many instances where I giggled and swooned reading the scenes in it.

Conclusion

Luv (Un) Arranged is a book I quite enjoyed. It had a lot of fun, sweet, romantic and steamy scenes. The drama is worthy of Bollywood praise because it definitely spiked my blood pressure reading it. Overall, would recommend others to give this book a go.
