Top 7 Cafes in Miri for Bookworms
Do you want to know the best cafes in Miri for bookworms to just chill and get some reading done?
Then, I have a post for you! Here are my Top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms!
Reading at home can get tiresome sometimes.
The same ol’ scenery, same ol’ vibe and occasionally your house might not have water supply as was the case in Miri recently.
Thus, sometimes, a bookworm such as you and I, NEED a change of scenery especially when the dreaded reading slump rears its ugly head.
That change in view might be the boost we need to kick that reading slump to the curb and finally be on top of our TBR list!
*this might be impossible but a bookworm can dream*
First, in my list of Top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms is…
Moongrind Kingdom
I LOVE MOONGRIND!
Moongrind Kingdom has a cosy-homely aesthetic that I vibe with.
They have mismatched furniture and decorations and you would think it would be chaotic but it works as it gives off that ambiance of it being a chill hangout sesh in your friends backyard.
This is great for bookworms wanting to find a chill place to just spend their day reading.
Not to mention they have GREAT FOOD!
Moongrind Kingdom mainly serves western food such as pasta, waffles, cakes, and coffee.
But dare I say their specialty is their waffles and pasta dishes.
I might be biased in this regard because I have tried almost all of their pasta dishes and all of them taste SO GOOD!
My fav Moongrind pasta dish is the Cajun Shrimp Penne, it used to be their Fett and Cheese Pasta with Beef Bacon but my taste buds shifted preference as the Cajun Shrimp Penne just has that extra zing to it!
Whilst, I say that their specialty is waffles and their pasta dishes but a few weeks back, my besties and I went to Moongrind and we tried their Honey BBQ Fried Chicken and their Korean Fried Chicken… AND THEY WERE SO GOOD!
Unfortunately for my readers, I cannot review their coffee because I don’t drink coffee. Sorry guys.
What I can review in terms of their beverages is their BUTTERBEER!
You read that right, my fellow Potterheads!
Moongrind Kingdom has Butterbeer! And I can attest that they taste AH-MAZE-ING!
So, head on down to Moongrind to get some reading done whilst sippin on some Butterbeer.

Chapter One
The second cafe in the Top 7 Cafes in Miri for Bookworms list is Chapter One!
Chapter One is where I usually come to hang out with my best friend to either do work or to chill and do some reading whilst she does her work.
And I have fond memories of Chapter One as this is where I watched The Room by Tommy Wiseau for the first time and was consequently traumatized by it.
Did you know though that Chapter One cafe is the first library-themed cafe in Miri!
Which explains why my productivity for reading or work in this cafe increases exponentially.
The cafe does have a wide selection of books for their customers to read from although I am unsure whether Chapter One has a borrowing system as I had never asked them but if you’re just there for coffee and cakes then you will not be bored as they have quite a collection of books.
Not only that, they also have board games!
To be honest, I haven’t tried much of the savory dishes available in Chapter One as I mostly go here for the reading and working ambiance… and also CAKES!
Chapter One has an array of cakes to choose from such as Pandan Cream Cheese Cake, Medovik Layer Honey Cake, Matcha Cotton Cake, Butterscotch Crumble Cake with ice cream and many more for you to choose from.
Personally, I don’t have a favourite cake in Chapter One because I like them all!
All of the cakes I have tried here always taste great. Especially if they have matcha or anything with cheese but that could just be me being matcha and cheese obsessed.

Cafeine Port
The reason Cafeine Port is on the Miri Cafes for Bookworms list is because of the POTENTIAL it has!
THE POTENTIAL FOR MAXIMUM COMFORTABLE READING!
The cafe has two floors with the ground floor mainly having the typical cafe-like furniture and the like.
Whereas the first floor has more sofas as their main furniture settings.
You guys see where I am going, right? Because more sofas mean we can read whilst lying down!
This is great, especially for readers who love to read in many different positions and the sofa arrangement at Cafeine Port allows you to do so.
Unlike other cafes, Caffeine Port mainly serves savoury dishes aside from the staple coffee beverages. Thus, it’s fair to say it is more of a restaurant than a cafe.
The savoury dishes served in Cafeine Port range from Eastern dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, nasi lalapan to Western dishes such as burgers, pizza and my favourite… PASTA!
I am ashamed to say the only food I order from Cafeine Port is their Carbonara pasta. It can’t be helped alright, sometimes I just like what I like and I will order only that from now until forever apparently.
So, if you want maximum comfort when reading, Cafeine Port is the place for you!
Location: Lot 1964, Ground Floor, Marina Parkcity Phase 2, Miri
Operation:
- Monday-Thursday, Sunday: 10am – 11pm
- Friday-Saturday: 10am – 12am
Inver Cafe
Inver Cafe is the only cafe in my Top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms list that I personally feel has a unique menu as opposed to the others.
Some of the dishes found in Inver cafe can’t be found in other cafes in this list and that intrigues the foodie in me.
The dish that intrigues me the most from Inver cafe is their Quinoa Avocado Salmon. To be frank, I have never tried quinoa.
Quinoa confuses the Asian in me because what exactly are you? But in this dish it is paired with my second fav food after pasta which is salmon.
Another salmon dish that Inver cafe has is their grilled salmon mango salsa which again I will try next time I am there because it sounds absolutely delish.
Okay… Okay… Enough about the food, we are here for why Inver cafe is a great place for bookworms to read.
Aside from their food of which I literally only shared two dishes (they have many more!), Inver is a good place for bookworms because of how close the cafe is to shopping malls.
It is a 5-10 minutes drive from Permaisuri Mall or Bintang Megamall or Imperial Mall and if you are the walking type, its only a solid 10-15 minutes walk (if it’s me best believe it will be 20-30 minutes).
I say this aspect of the cafe because where else would you rather hang out with your bookish besties after a long hard day of book shopping?
An overcrowded shopping mall or a tasteful cafe with great food that you can enjoy whilst discussing about books.
The selection is too clear my fellow book lovers! Too clear!

The Litt Cafe
Fifth in the list of top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms is The Litt Cafe!
The Litt Cafe is similar to Caffeine Port whereby it has two levels/floors.
The difference between the two levels is that the first floor is more secluded and quiet and would give their patrons more privacy.
Which is great for bookworms who prefer to read in a place that’s slightly away from the hustle and bustle of a cafe but still being able to enjoy the ambience of it all.
The Litt Cafe is the only cafe in this list that doesn’t serve savoury foods and focuses mainly on their beverages and their cakes.
I personally recommend The Litt Cafe for fellow bookworms who perhaps prefer a purely cafe vibe without the smells and distraction of other foods so they can really immerse themselves in their reading.
As much as I love savoury foods, smelling sambal belacan aka shrimp paste doesn’t exactly fit the typical bookish cafe aesthetic does it.
Also, The Litt Cafe has the cutest cakes!

Cafe Dua Pulo (Closed as of 2024)
Cafe Dua Pulo is a new cafe in Miri that is located at Coco Cabana.
In my humble opinion, if you have a reading slump or if you have a fantasy of being the bookish girl reading by the oceanside, CAFE DUA PULO IS FOR YOU!
BECAUSE! GIRL! THE VIEW!
The view alone is enough to convince you why Cafe Dua Pulo is in the top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms!
If you want THE CAFE to start romanticising your life, Cafe Dua Pulo is the place to be!
Cafe Dua Pulo faces the ocean where you can feel the sea-breeze softly caress your face as you are reading and enjoying a caffeinated beverage.
If you have a reading slump lagik la! You can just enjoy the food, the view, and just forget about the pressure to read and instead just read for the enjoyment of reading.
Hakuna Matata as they as in the Lion King, does it have any relations to this post? None whatsoever but we are rolling with it.
Not only that, if you feel a bit too stuffed from eating, you can take a walk around Coco Cabana and mayhaps take a leisurely stroll at Marina recreational park.
Location: Coco Cabana
Operation: Unfortunately as of 2024 the cafe has closed down

Blue Cottage Coffee
The last cafe in my top 7 cafes in Miri for bookworms is teh Blue Cottage Coffee cafe.
This cafe is special.
Blue Cottage Cafe is special because they are the only cafe on this list that also provides courses for people who are interested in latte art or being a barista!
Aside from selling coffee beans and providing courses, Blue Cottage Coffee also sells an assortment of all things related to coffee such as coffee machines, coffee grinders, coffee accessories, and syrups to make your coffee have that added X-FACTOR!
But, the true question remains, is Blue Cottage Coffe cafe fit for a bookworm.
I would say yes! Especially if you’re a coffee enthusiast bookworm!
The cafe itself has a homely Japanese aesthetic that a bookworm would most definitely enjoy as it is nice and cosy.
Location: Bulatan Commercial Centre, No. 2279, 2nd Floor, Jalan Datuk Muip, Lutong, 98000 Miri, Sarawak
