A Trace of Death Review

It is another book I read by Blake Pierce, the other book I read was Next Door. Like the previous book, I dislike this book as well.

This book was not good whatsoever.

The plot was completely out of whack and made no sense whatsoever. Truly, this author needs to have some sort of storyboard where the plot is realistic to some degree.

I don’t need much because it is fiction, but let us all touch some grass here.

The part that I disliked the most was the protagonist, Keri Locke. She is a terrible cop, and the fact she did not get any repercussions is ridiculous!

Keri Locke does not listen to her superiors, she harasses the parents of the kidnap victim, goes into houses without any warrant and what’s worse, she enacts police brutality ON A MINOR!

She physically assaults him by banging his head on the table and says that he “fell” on a coffee table and there is no repercussions?

Why? Is it because she is a blond blue eyed white woman?

I sympathize with the trauma that Keri went through, truly, but just because you had shitty things happen to you does not mean you can get a pass in life. That’s like saying because Ed Kemper had an abusive childhood, he should be a free man even after killing and dismembering so many people.

And the perpetrator! Made no sense!

I just don’t understand this author. Do they not have an editor? Proofreader? Beta reader?

Heck! I’ll be your beta reader/editor for free. I don’t usually rant about the authors, but I have read two books by this author and both books suffer from the same problems.

Whereby, we have the supposedly strong independent female protagonists who get what they want even though they did not work for it and miraculously does not get any consequences.

It says in the synopsis it is a dark psychological thriller with heart pounding suspense, yeah it was neither. The only heart pounding suspense that I experienced was from the anger I was containing within myself from reading this book.

I just want the book to make sense. That is all.

In conclusion, I do not recommend this book.
