City of Ghosts Review
Adulthood has made me realize how less tolerant I have become for YA and perhaps a bit of middle-grade books.
Although I gave this book a high rating of 4/5 stars, I still felt quite annoyed by the main character and how obtuse she can be. But, then I remembered the main protagonist is a 12-year-old child and her mistakes are mistakes that of a child.
So, I try to reign out my annoyance BY A LOT.
As for the plot of the book itself as well as the writing, I must say I quite enjoyed it. The premise of the book intrigued me and I love mystery books. The books being for middle-grade children is unsurprisingly easy to read and follow.
I definitely recommend this book, especially for young readers and I will most probably continue the series.
Apologies in advance that my review is quite short but to be honest I did not know what else to say. It was a chill book.

Author: Victoria Schwab
Publisher: Scholastic
Published: August 28th 2018
Rating: 4/5
Cassidy Blake’s parents are The Inspecters, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.
When The Inspecters head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn’t sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn’t belong in her world. Cassidy’s powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself.
