Sins of a Duke Review

Stacy Reid is one of my favorite historical romance authors ever since I was provided an ARC of Wicked in His arms. Sins of a Duke is the 3rd novel in the Scandalous House of Calydon series but the book being in a series does not affect the readability of it as all the books can be easily read as standalones.

I quite enjoyed reading Sins of a Duke but comparing it to the rest of Stacy Reid’s works I must admit this book is rather forgettable. I myself had to read a fair amount of reviews on Goodreads and the synopsis to remember the plot.

Sins of a Duke is mainly a book on how in the quest for revenge for his sister, the Duke of Mondvale, Lucan, found redemption and forgiveness not only for his enemies but also himself through the POWER OF LOVE!

The romance is pretty standard for recent historical romance, quite romantic and sweet but it was the lengths that Lucan was willing to go to, to enact his revenge that got me interested to finish the book because you would think that his tender feelings for Lady Constance (the female protagonist) would be a good buffer especially since Lady Constance’s brother is Lucan’s enemy. But no, my man was on a mission!

Only one aspect of the book that I was a tad bit uncomfortable with but it was normal to do back in the day so who am I to say it was sus. The aspect I am talking about is the age gap between Lucan and Constance. I feel like 18 is just a bit too close to 17 especially when the hero is in his late 20’s in this book.

My favorite part of the book though was when Constance fought back against her mother when her mother wanted Constance to be more proper and follow etiquette, especially in her friendship with Lucan and Constance spat facts basically calling her mother out for having the audacity to lecture her on propriety and etiquette when she was the one having bastard children.

Overall, the book whilst being forgettable was still a fun read. Definitely recommend.

Sins of a Duke Synopsis

Title: Sins of a Duke

Author: Stacy Reid

Published: March 10th 2015

Rating: 3/5

All of the young ladies whispered about the Duke of Mondvale in hushed tones, their eyes following his tall, dark figure with barely disguised lust. For the newly-ostracized Lady Constance Thornton, he is magnetic and altogether desirable. Irresistibly so. Since her reputation is already ruined in London society, why shouldn’t she be impudent and dance with the scandalous “Lord of Sin”?

Little does she know of his plans.

The beautiful and innocent Lady Constance is no mere plaything for Lucan Wynwood. She will be his revenge. By ruining her, he will have his vengeance against her brother. Except that the Lady Constance is full of surprises…and now she could well be the ruin of him.
